The problem people have with sexuality
I was reading a news article earlier about a lesbian couple who stirred Seattle, a place typically friendly to gays. It seems that everyone is supportive, except for that annoying little double standard where it is okay for a straight couple, but not a gay couple. However, I think I found the cause:
"I would be uncomfortable" seeing public displays of affection between lesbians or gay men, said Jim Ridneour, a 54-year-old taxi driver. "I don't think it's right seeing women kissing in public. If I had my family there, I'd have to explain what's going on.""I'd have to explain what's going on." Yeah, who would ever want to explain reality to their kids. Heaven forbid you have to take a parental role and explain that not everyone is a carbon copy of the other.
